Speed of train from B to A = 40 km/h
Concept:
Here, the distance covered in both cases are same. Therefore,
Average Speed = 2V1×V2/(V1 + V2)
Average speed = Total Distance/Total Time.
Calculation:
V1 = 60 kmph, V2 = 40 kmph
Average Speed = (2 × 60 × 40)/(60 + 40)
Average Speed = 4800/100 = 48
∴ The average speed of the train during the whole journey is 48 km/h.
