Question
Download Solution PDFA cuboid has dimensions of length 10 cm, width 5 cm and height 8 cm. A cube with side length 5 cm is cut out from one of the faces of the cuboid. What is the remaining volume of the cuboid?
Answer (Detailed Solution Below)
Detailed Solution
Download Solution PDFGiven:
Length of cuboid = 10 cm
Width of cuboid = 5 cm
Height of cuboid = 8 cm
Side length of cube = 5 cm
Formula Used:
Volume of cuboid = Length × Width × Height
Volume of cube = Side3
Remaining volume = Volume of cuboid - Volume of cube
Calculation:
Volume of cuboid = 10 × 5 × 8 = 400 cm3
Volume of cube = 53 = 125 cm3
Remaining volume = 400 - 125
⇒ Remaining volume = 275 cm3
The remaining volume of the cuboid is 275 cm3.
