Question
Download Solution PDFThe perimeter of two similar triangles ABC and PQR (in correspondence) are 64 cm and 56 cm respectively. If AB = 16 cm, then what is the length of PQ?
Answer (Detailed Solution Below)
Detailed Solution
Download Solution PDFGiven:
ΔABC ∼ ΔPQR
The perimeter ΔABC = 64 cm
The perimeter ΔPQR = 56 cm
AB = 16 cm
Concept :
The ratio of the perimeter of 2 similar triangles is equal to the ratio of the corresponding sides.
Perimeter of ΔABC/Perimeter of ΔPQR = (AB/PQ) = (BC/QR) = (AC/PR)
Calculation:
ΔABC and ΔPQR are similar so
AB/PQ = (Perimeter of Δ ABC)/(Perimeter of Δ PQR)
16/PQ = 64/56
PQ = 14 cm
∴ Option 3 is the correct answer.
