Given:

Shopkeeper using a faulty weight while professes to sell the article at cost

price and gains a profit of 25%.

Calculation:

Let x be the weight the shopkeeper uses.

The shopkeeper gains 25% profit, so 1.25x = 1000

⇒ x = 800

Therefore, the faulty weight he uses for 1000g is 800g.
