Question
Download Solution PDFA can count 100 eggs in 4 minutes while B can count the same number of eggs in 5 minutes. How much time will be required if they work together to count 450 eggs?
Answer (Detailed Solution Below)
Detailed Solution
Download Solution PDFGiven:
A can count 100 eggs in 4 minutes
B can count 100 eggs in 5 minutes
Total capacity of counting eggs = 450 eggs
Formula Used:
Efficiency × Time taken = Total capacity of counting eggs
Calculation:
A can count eggs per minute (A's Efficiency)=\({100 \over 4}\)= 25 units
B can count eggs per minute (B's Efficiency)=\( {100 \over 5}\) = 20 units
Total efficiency = 25+20 = 45 units
∴Efficiency × Time taken = Total capacity of counting eggs
⇒ 45 x Time taken = 450
⇒ Time taken = \(\large {450 \over 45}\)= 10 minutes
∴ '10 minutes' will be required if they work together to count 450 eggs.
