Detailed Solution
Download Solution PDFGiven:
10 women take 16 days to complete a work which 6 men can complete in 8 days.
12 men started working and after 2 days 6 men left, and 5 women joined them
Formula used:
Total work = Number of men × number of days
Concept used:
Total work is the same
Calculation:
As per the question,
10W × 16 = 6M × 8
⇒ M : W = 10 : 3
Total work is 16 × 10 × 3 = 480 units
12 men did in 2 days,
⇒ 12 × 10 × 2 = 240 units
The remaining work is 480 -240 = 240 units
The remaining work did by 6 men and 5 women.
Let it will be completed in x days .
As per the question,
⇒ 240 = 6 × 10 × x + 5 × 3 × x
⇒ x = 240 / 75
⇒ x = 16 /5 days
Total time = 16/5 + 2 = 26/5 days.
∴ The correct option is 4
