New public administration looks to change how government works. It focuses on some critical changes in how government functions. These changes are called features of new public administration.

Citizen participation

One significant feature is citizen participation. The government tries to involve citizens more in decisions and policies. It seeks citizens' views on needs and issues. Citizens get chances to participate in planning, implementing and reviewing government programs. When citizens participate, the government can better identify needs and deliver good services.
