Detailed Solution

Important Points
Meta Message:
- It is a secondary communication (including indirect cues) about how a piece of information is meant to be interpreted.
- It is based on the idea that the same message accompanied by different meta-communication can mean something entirely different, including its opposite, as in irony.
- It is an inner message that could be inferred or implied from a message.
- When one reads between the lines, he might find a message behind what somebody is outwardly saying.
- For example, if you say “Glad to see you” to someone and roll your eyes at the same time, they will not feel that you are actually glad to see them.
Thus, when a communicated message is based on a reference to another, it is called a Meta Message.
