Given:

A coconut tree swings with the wind in such a manner that the angle covered by its trunk is 18 degrees.

The topmost portion of the tree covers a distance of 44 metres.

Concept used:

1. Lenght of a Arc = 2πR ×  (R = Radius and θ = Angle of the sector)

2. π = 22/7

Calculation:

Let the length of the tree be L metres.

According to the question,

2π × L ×  = 44

 × L ×  = 44

⇒ L = 140

∴ The length of the tree is 140 metres.
