Following the 2011 World Cup victory, India endured the Turbulent period in the following two years. losing 0-4 in away test series to England and Australia. Some of these failures also resulted in the exclusion of some Indian stalwarts in the Indian team.
The selectors had even reached at a decision to sack MS Dhoni as a captain and the former Indian all rounder Mohinder Amarnath was one of the most important names in the selection committee then. Looking back at that episode, Yograj Singh, father of the former India star, Yuvraj Singh, has mercilessly criticised Amarnath and co.
Yograj Singh’s Statement
“You (BCCI selectors) just destroyed these boys for no reason. Boys like Gautam Gambhir, Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh, Zaheer Khan, Mohammed Kaif, VVS Laxman, Rahul Dravid. You just made them go after 2011,” Yograj said, speaking to InsideSport.
“You just destroyed the team after the 2011 World Cup. The careers of 7 players were put into the gutter. That is why were struggling,” Yograj added.
“We lost five series when MS Dhoni was the captain and he was told he would be replaced by Mohinder Amarnath, but that’s not the way to do it,” Yograj said.

During Test, Dhoni led 60 matches in which he 27 matches and helped India reach no. 1 rank in ICC India Test 2009. He was also a skipper in two Asia Cup titles won by India (2010, 2016). He managed to win 110 ODIs of 199, 41 T20Is of 72 and the historic 2007 title.
