The secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has said that Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have managed to retain their Grade A+ contracts despite retiring from Tests. Both veterans had announced their retirement from the longest form of the game within a week. Incidentally, Kohli and Rohit were also retained at the top level of central contracts under BCCI even after they had resigned from the T20Is and Tests.
RO-KO To Retain A+ Contract
According to a news agency ANI, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia said both Rohit and Kohli are still a part of Indian cricket and they would get all the facilities of the Grade A+ category.
“Virat Kohli & Rohit Sharma’s Grade A+ contract will continue even after both announced retirement from T20I & Test Matches – They are still part of Indian cricket, they will get all facilities of Grade A+,” Saikia said.

According to the policy of BCCI, Grade A+ contracts are given to players who are part of all three forms of the game. However, Rohit and Kohli had taken a retirement decision as far as playing T20Is was concerned having won the World Cup in 2024. Later on, the pair have made the decision to call it a day from Tests ahead of the beginning of the next WTC run and the England series.
The only available format in which Ro-Ko is active now is ODI only. The oblivious agenda is for the pair to bring home the 2027 World Cup, thus maybe to make up for the painful final-loss during the 2023 WC when they just could not lay their hands on the trophy.
