Pakistani cricket team faced another loss when they lost their initial ODI match following their T20 series defeat with a 4-1 result against New Zealand. The return of veteran players Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan to the team failed to bring positive results to Pakistan’s fortunes. A solid batting performance by Babar Azam and Salman Ali Agha during the first ODI match led Pakistani cricketers to suffer a terrible 73-run defeat.
New Zealand Gave A Target Of 345 Runs
When Mohammad Rizwan obtained the first toss advantage he chose to start the match with the bowling. The Kiwi batting performance started on a negative note from the beginning. The opening batsman Will Young managed to score 1 run before Nick Kelly added 15 runs to the total score. During the game Henry Nicholas managed to reach a score of 11 runs. Mark Chapman collected 132 runs at the fourth batting position during his brilliant performance.
Mitchell’s Vital Stand And Pakistan’s Bowling Brilliance
The contribution of Daryl Mitchell to the inning consisted of a crucial 76-run stand. Due to his talented batting and bowling performance Mohammad Abbas secured a score of 52 runs off 26 balls which led Pakistan to 344 runs in their fifty-over allotment. Irfan Khan became the leading Pakistan bowler of the match by taking 3 wickets alongside Haris Rauf who took two wickets and Aaqib Javed who also took two wickets.
