Indian authorities conducted a social media block that extended to Pakistan cricket stars Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, Shaheen Afridi, and actors Hania Aamir and Ali Fazal. On Thursday, Instagram blocked the social media account of Pakistan javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem. The social media account lockdown followed the Pahalgam terror attack, during which multiple people lost their lives while representing one of the most lethal attacks in Kashmir during the recent period.

The Indian government has imposed restrictions on Pakistani social media accounts that operate successfully in India. Pakistani YouTube channels received blocking orders in India following their distribution of material that consisted of provocative sectarian content and false military misinformation about India.
The YouTube restrictions applied to Shoaib Akhtar and Basit Ali, alongside Shahid Afridi. The YouTube material of the former Pakistani cricketers is unavailable, yet their Instagram content remains accessible among platforms; however, Nadeem’s social media links face blocks. Fans in India can still access the Instagram accounts through which current Pakistani cricketers Babar Azam and Shahid Afridi, and Mohammad Rizwan post content. India has restricted access to the Instagram accounts of multiple well-known Pakistani celebrities who including both actors Mahira Khan and Ali Zafar.
