Renowned yoga guru Baba Ramdev, credited with popularising yoga across the globe, continues to guide people towards healthier lifestyles through Ayurvedic and natural practices. At the Patanjali Wellness Centre in Haridwar, both Indian and international patients receive treatment through a holistic blend of yoga and Ayurveda. The Patanjali Ayurveda Wellness guidebook outlines seven foundational rules for healthy living, as recommended by Baba Ramdev, which are followed at the centre and can also be adopted in daily life.
- Seven Tools for Healing
The wellness system rests on seven essential elements: yoga, yagna (fire ritual), Ayurveda, naturopathy, medicinal water, medicinal food, and disease-specific treatments. These practices must not only be understood but also embraced and lived daily. - Yoga Is a Must for All
At the Patanjali centre, yoga is mandatory for all residents. Every individual is required to follow the set schedule of yoga from 5:30 to 7:00 am. Participation is voluntary, but those unwilling to comply are advised not to stay at the centre. - Prescribed Yoga Duration
According to the Patanjali guidebook, each yoga pose and kriya (technique) should be performed for at least two minutes, while a minimum of ten minutes should be dedicated to meditation. Pranayama is considered essential for everyone. - Say No to Luxury
Patients at the centre are expected to live simply, like all other patients. A luxurious lifestyle or negative mindset may hinder the healing process. All treatment-related instructions given by doctors must be followed sincerely. - Freedom from Medicines
The centre prioritises drug-free treatments. Ayurvedic remedies are used to address issues like blood sugar, blood pressure, thyroid disorders, and body pain. These treatments are entirely natural, and medication dosages are gradually reduced and eventually stopped once relief is achieved. - Adherence to Treatment Conduct
Patients must follow the do’s and don’ts prescribed by the centre’s Ayurvedic doctors and yoga instructors. This includes maintaining personal hygiene, self-dependence, respectful interaction with fellow patients, avoiding past addictions, and observing proper decorum. - Continue the Rules at Home
Even after being discharged, patients are encouraged to continue following the centre’s regimen at home. This includes waking up early, going to bed on time, and practising home remedies like jal neti and pranayama to maintain health.
These principles, as laid out by Baba Ramdev, reflect Patanjali’s holistic approach to healing—aimed not just at curing illness but also at cultivating a disciplined, natural, and balanced lifestyle.
