After the victim refused to withdraw criminal charges against the rape accused, the latter uploaded a video of the crime on social media. The accused, who was out on bail, also sent the video clips to the relatives of the girl in Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur.
The victim lodged a fresh complaint at the Cantt police station against the accused on March 16. The police said an FIR has been registered in the case and they are looking for the accused, a report published in The Times of India cited.
As per reports, the accused was sent to jail in 2022 over charges of rape, abortion, and serious offences. After coming out of jail on bail, the accused was continuously putting pressure on her to withdraw the case. In December 2024, the accused misbehaved with the victim in a public place.
The police said the accused created a fake id and sent the video clip to the girl’s relatives and her batchmates. He also made the video viral. He tried to defame her. The police launched a manhunt to nab him.
