Odisha: In a shocking incident that occurred a few days back, a man was arrested for allegedly abetting the suicide of a minor girl. The accused tuition teacher, identified as 26-year-old S Sanatan Reddy, a resident of Digapahandi’s Kandeswar village, was booked on charges of physically assaulting the student. Meanwhile, another man, K Loknath Reddy, also involved in the crime, is absconding.
According to the Police, the victim took her life by consuming poison. The incident came to light after her brother found she was being exploited by the accused under the pretext of fake promises. He learnt about the matter while going through her mobile and personal possessions, after which he launched a police complaint.
Reports stated that the victim started taking classes in 2024, where Sanatan sexually exploited her under fake marriage promises. The other accused also physically assaulted her many times. He promised to help her get more marks in the examinations.
TNIE quoted Loknath stating his complaint, “However, when my sister eventually came to know about their ill intentions, she rejected their advances. The two then started threatening to post her private pictures, videos and personal details on social media. Distressed by their repeated threats and concerned about the family’s reputation, my sister died by suicide by consuming poison.” The police have launched an investigation into the case and arrested Sanatan. Meanwhile, efforts are on to track down the other accused.
