Heavy Rains Disrupt Mumbai Metro's Newly Launched Underground Corridor
IMD Weather LIVE Updates: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a comprehensive weather advisory forecasting widespread rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds across various regions of India from May 26 to May 31, 2025. Several regions are expected to experience extremely heavy rainfall, potentially disrupting normal life and affecting agriculture, transport, and public safety. The wait for the Monsoon in India ended with southwest monsoon making landfall in Kerala on Saturday, May 24. This marked its earliest onset over the Indian mainland since 2009, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The onset of southwest monsoon over Kerala is eight days earlier than its normal onset date of June 1. The IMD had earlier predicted the early arrival of the monsoon on May 27.

The Northern Limit of Monsoon continue to pass through 15.5°N/55°E, 15.5°N/60°E, 16°N/65°E, 16.5°N/70°E, Devgad, Belagavi, Haveri, Mandya, Dharmapuri, Chennai, 15°N/83°E, 18°N/87°E, 20°N/89°E, Aizawl, Kohima, 26.5°N/95°E, 27°N/97°E.
The IMD said that the conditions are favourable for further advance of Southwest Monsoon into some more parts of central Arabian Sea, some more parts of Maharashtra including Mumbai, Karnataka including Bengaluru, some parts of Andhra Pradesh, remaining parts of Tamil Nadu, some more parts of west central & North Bay of Bengal and some more parts of North eastern states during next 3 days.
According to the Met Department, the conditions are favourable for further advancement of monsoon. It may reach into some more parts of Maharashtra including Mumbai, Karnataka including Bengaluru, Andhra Pradesh, remaining parts of Tamil Nadu in the next three days.
Red Alert for several districts of Kerala, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu has been issued.

Monsoon 2025: The southwest monsoon which made landfall in Kerala on Saturday, May 24 has progressed further. It advanced into some more parts of west central and east central Arabian Sea, Karnataka, entire Goa, parts of Maharashtra, Mizoram, some parts of Manipur and Nagaland on Sunday, May 25. The monsoon is further expected to reach into some more parts of Maharashtra including Mumbai, Karnataka including Bengaluru, Andhra Pradesh, remaining parts of Tamil Nadu in the next three days.

The IMD has issued a yellow alert for rain and thunderstorm on Monday, May 26 in Delhi.
Partly cloudy sky with very light to light rain/thunderstorm/lightning and gusty winds (speed 30-40 kmph) temporarily reaching to 50 kmph during thunderstorm have been forecast.
Today’s Maximum temperatures are in the range of 31-32°C.

A holiday has been declared for educational institutions in Thrissur, Idukki, Ernakulam, Wayanad, and Kasargod districts on May 26 due to heavy rain alerts. The decision comes after the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a red alert in 11 districts and an orange alert in three districts due to heavy rains. The holiday applies to all types of institutions, including Anganwadis, nurseries, Kendriya Vidyalayas, CBSE and ICSE schools, professional colleges, tuition centres, and madrasas.
The Met department has issued a red alert in the coastal belt—rough seas, relentless rain, gusty winds, and uprooted trees can be seen in Dakshin Kannada.
Notably, the South West Monsoon advanced in Karnataka on May 25.

According to the IMD, the Western Disturbance persists as an upper air cyclonic circulation over north Punjab and adjoining Jammu & Kashmir at 3.1 km above mean sea level with a trough aloft at middle & upper tropospheric westerlies with its axis at 5.8 km above mean sea levels roughly along Long. 75°E to the north of Lat. 26°N.y
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast continued scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall across parts of East and Central India beginning May 26, with associated thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds expected to impact several regions.
