Renowned industrialist Sunjay Kapur, who is also Karisma Kapoor’s ex-husband, passed away in the United Kingdom at the age of 53. The reports claim that he suffered a heart attack while playing polo. After learning about the news of his demise, many celebrities including Kareena Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan and Malaika Arora reached Karisma’s house in Mumbai.
Who Was Sunjay Kapur?
Sunjay Kapur was the chairman of Sona Comstar and was known for being a prominent name in the automotive industry. He was also the Chairman of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Northern Region, which worked in Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand and three Union Territories under his leadership.
He was first married to designer Nandita Mahtani but they separated after two years. He then married Karisma Kapoor in 2003 and they have two children. They divorced in 2016 but continued to co-parent their kids.
After his separation from Karisma, he tied the knot to longtime partner and model Priya Sachdev. The couple welcomed a son soon after their marriage.
A few hors before his death, Sunjay Kapur posted about the tragic plane crash in Ahmedabad. He wrote on X, “Terrible news of the tragic Air India crash in Ahmedabad. My thoughts and prayers are with all the families affected. May they find strength in this difficult hour. #planecrash.”
