After the grand success of Amar Singh Chamkila, Imtiaz Ali will reunite with Dijit Dosanjh for a new theatrical project. The filmmaker will bring an unforgettable saga of love and longing to the silver screen. Set to begin filming in August 2025, this untitled film will hit theatres on Baisakhi 2026.
Apart from Diljit Dosanjh, the movie will also feature Naseeruddin Shah, Vedang Raina, and Sharvari. Moreover, this untitled movie reunites the legendary trio of A.R. Rahman, Irshad Kamil, and Imtiaz Ali.
Announcing the movie, Imtiaz Ali quoted the poem of Momin, “‘Tum mere paas hote ho goya, Jab koi doosra nahin hota’ (‘You are with me, however, When there is no one else’)”
The movie is said to be a story of a boy and a girl, but also a country. He said in the statement, “Can love really be lost? Can home be taken away from someone’s heart? This film has a big heart. It has a large canvas, yet is very personal. It is a story of a boy and a girl, but also a country. Wish us well as we dive into the currents of this dynamic story, we hope to emerge next year with a touching cinematic experience in a theatre near you.”
On the work front, Imtiaz Ali will team up with Netflix for another project ‘O Saathi’, starring Aditi Rao Hydari, Avinash Tiwary and Arjun Rampal. Announcing the project, the makers wrote, “Imtiaz Ali’s ‘O Saathi Re’…an ode to the vintage feeling of love in contemporary times. Starring Aditi Rao Hydari, Avinash Tiwary & Arjun Rampal. Directed by @arifali1541 O Saathi Re – coming soon, only on Netflix.”
