Mumbai Rains: IndiGo And SpiceJet Issue Advisory As Bad Weather Disrupts Flight Operations

The IMD has issued Orange to red colour warnings for moderate to heavy spells of rainfall with moderate thunderstorms with squally winds 50-60 kmph issued for Mumbai and suburban areas during next 3 hours.

Mumbai: The Southwest monsoon has advanced into Maharashtra and Mumbai has been receiving heavy rainfall from the past 2-3 hours. The incessant rain, along with thunderstorms has caused disruptions, flooded roads, affected vehicular movement and impacted flight operations in the city. Several airlines on Monday issued advisories and stated that their operations had been affected by the bad weather. IndiGo and SpiceJet reported delays and advised passengers to keep checking their flight status.

Airlines Issue Advisory

IndiGo assured that it is doing everything to minimise passenger inconvenience and expressed regret over the disruptions.

“Due to heavy rains in Mumbai, several flights have been impacted, and we deeply regret any disruptions to your travel plans. We are doing everything possible to manage the situation and minimise the delays. We’re all hands on deck to ensure that you reach your destination safely and as quickly as possible,” the airline wrote on X.

The airline further stated that their airport team is present at all touch points to assist passenger with any issue.

“We truly appreciate your patience and understanding during this time. If you have any immediate concerns or need assistance, our airport team is present at all touch points to help you,” added IndiGo in its post.

SpiceJet has also informed about their flight operations being impacted due to heavy rain in Mumbai. The airline wrote on X, “Due to bad weather (heavy rain) in Mumbai (BOM), all departures/arrivals and their consequential flights may get affected. Passengers are requested to keep a check on their flight status via http://spicejet.com/#status.”

Meanwhile, visuals of waterlogging emerged from Mumbai’s Dadar Hindmata area. Earlier, the IMD had issued Orange to red colour warnings for moderate to heavy spells of rainfall with moderate thunderstorms with squally winds 50-60 kmph issued for Mumbai and suburban areas during next 3 hours.

It also warned about thunderstorm accompanied by lightning and intense spells of rain with gusty winds reaching 50-60 kmph very likely to occur at isolated places in the districts of Mumbai during next 3-4 hours.
