Mumbai police have caught a smart thief who used to steal while dressed as a woman. But what surprised everyone was that he owns property worth crores of rupees! The police arrested Ranjit Kumar Upendra, also called Munna, who is from Khagaria district in Bihar.
A Master Of Disguise: The “Lady Thief”
Ranjit had developed a unique modus operandi: he would conduct surveillance during the day and execute thefts at night. What made him nearly untraceable was his disguise — salwar-kameez, saree, or burqa — with his face covered by a dupatta or veil. He even mimicked the walk and behavior of a woman to avoid suspicion. After completing a theft, he would change clothes near railway tracks to conceal his true identity.
Police Worked For Months To Catch Him
Assistant Commissioner of Police Hemant Sawant revealed that Ranjit had been stealing for years without ever being caught. However, luck ran out for him after a theft in Mumbai’s Malad area in March.. In March, he stole something in Malad, Mumbai, and police started searching for him. They checked 100 to 150 CCTV videos where he appeared dressed as a woman. Finally, they found him in Malvani and arrested him.
Lavish Assets Built On Stolen Wealth
What The Police Uncovered After His Arrest Was Staggering. A search Of His Properties Revealed:
