In a horrifying incident of domestic violence, a man in Bengaluru allegedly poured toilet cleaner acid on his wife’s face after a heated argument that reportedly began over the volume of music playing on his mobile phone. This shocking incident occurred on May 19 at the NMH layout in Sidedahalli, North Bengaluru.
The 44-year-old victim was a beautician by profession who suffered with injuries to her head and face and is now recovering at a local hospital. Police have stated that she is now out of danger.
According to the police, the incident happened around 9 pm when the husband, whose identity has not been released yet, allegedly demanded money from his wife to buy liquor. When she did not agree, he began harassing her. Although he eventually managed to arrange the money, he later returned home in an intoxicated state. He then started to play music on his mobile phone at a high volume. When his wife requested him to lower down the volume, citing concerns about disturbing neighbors, he reportedly refused and began to verbally abuse her.
As the argument escalated, the man allegedly retrieved a bottle of toilet cleaner acid from the bathroom and poured its contents over his wife’s head and face. The victim’s cries for help alerted neighbours, who rushed her to the hospital. Meanwhile, the accused husband fled the scene immediately after the attack.
A case has been registered under relevant sections of the law, including those pertaining to voluntarily causing grievous hurt by the use of acid. Police are actively searching for the husband, and further investigation into the incident is underway to determine all the circumstances surrounding the brutal assault. This incident highlights the grim reality of domestic violence and the extreme lengths to which disputes can tragically escalate.
